About this set
Spools famous 3D American mahjong tiles, with elevated, tactile designs that jump off the table. 160 full-size tiles in bold, vibrant colors that are easy to read in any light.
At just 1.6 lbs, a full set is light enough to bring anywhere, but heavy enough for a satisfying game, and every tile floats if it ends up in the pool. Full-size and satisfying to shuffle at a fraction of the weight of a traditional set.
What's in the box?
Every order of mahjong tiles includes:
- 160 American Mahjong Tiles (144 base tiles, 10 jokers, and 6 blanks)
- Floral tile pouch
- 4 dice (2 floating, 2 regular)
- Anything you add above
Note: Mahjong mats are not included.

- Tiles are 1.4 x 1 x 0.4 inches. A tile set weighs 1.6 lbs.
- Racks and pushers are 20 inches long when assembled.
- Two-player racks are 19 inches long when assembled.
Care instructions
Your Spools set is designed to go where you go. Here's how to keep it in great shape.
Water and pool play: Tiles, racks, and pushers are splash-resistant and designed to float if they fall in during gameplay. They are not intended for extended submersion.
Post-game care: After exposure to chlorine or salt water, rinse with cool fresh water and allow to air dry completely.
Storage: Store your set in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Extreme heat: Avoid prolonged exposure to heat above 122F, such as hot cars or hot summer surfaces.
Safety and warnings
WARNING: Choking hazard. Mahjong tiles are small parts. Not suitable for children. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and discard damaged products.
WARNING: Magnets. The mega tile display case contains magnets embedded in the lid. While magnets are enclosed, they may come loose if the case is damaged. Swallowed magnets can stick together across intestines causing serious injury or death. Seek immediate medical attention if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children. Not suitable for children under 14. Magnets may interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Keep away from credit cards, electronics, and magnetic media.

I'm an engineer, so I started over from the tile up. Full-size tiles, racks that split in half, and a whole kit that weighs about 3 pounds. The same game she loves, light enough to bring.

No. The tiles are made out of a hard plastic material, called PLA, and they are partially hollow to be lightweight. They make a great noise when you shuffle the tiles, and have a fantastic hand-feel.
The tiles alone weigh 1.6 lbs, much lighter than a traditional Mahjong set.

I like the tiles but am extremely disappointed in the presentation when I opened the box. I already contacted Keen? (I think was his name) and was hosnetly expecting to receive the nice Spools box but I did not. The more I think about it the more disappointed I am to receive a brand new set of tiles in a brown box with brown paper stuffed in the top and the tiles loose in a bag like I had purchased used tiles from someone on Marketplace.
I love the 3 D design, brightness, and the light-weight materials used in these tiles, racks and pushers! I look forward to using them as my go-to set and for travel. The response at Spools has been quick and even my custom order of additional tiles (if needed for 5-person Majong) was promptly acknowledged, created and delivered. The Spools tiles are so darling and lightweight! I love that you can feel the bams, craks, and dots! Played in the pool and they float like a charm. The floating dice are also so cute. I also purchased the racks and love that they breakdown for travel. Heard about them on the podcast @Little House of Mahj and gave them a try so expectations were high. They exceeded my expectations!! Love them!
A fun set of light-weight tiles that clack!
These tiles were exactly what I was looking for! They are beautifully made, lightweight and they are perfect for pool play. They float! I had ordered floating tiles from another company and they were so cheap and overpriced. These are wonderful in every way. I am taking them on every vacation with me. The racks are precisely and collapse for easy travel. The whole set is only a few pounds and don’t add extra weight in your luggage. Brilliant!
Played this week for first time, loved these tiles! Beautifully made and the racks are so easy to pack. Can't wait for my cruise for which I bought these for due the "light as a feather" effect! Now if someone would develop a lightweight mat! My mat is heavier then my tiles and racks combined!

These tiles are GREAT! Perfect for the pool and also for travel! They sparkle and shine in the sun, float and weigh almost nothing but are full size! The racks and pushers split in half for easy storage and transport and are also light as a feather.
