Spools started with my grandmother. She played mahjong her whole life, and eventually her 14-pound set became too heavy for her to carry to her games. I'm an engineer, so I designed her a full-size set that weighs 1.6 pounds. Every set we make, including this one, starts from that same idea: the game you love, light enough to bring with you.

A traditional set weighs around 14 pounds. The Christmas tiles weigh 1.6. The full travel bundle, with four racks that split in half, pushers, dice, a tile pouch, and a tote, comes in around 3 pounds and fits in a carry-on.
